WA Reptile Association
« on: March 15, 2006, 06:56:25 AM »
Hi All,

This is just a notice about the next meeting of a WA Reptile Association on Friday 7th of April. I’m suggesting that we meet at my work (only cause it’s central) around 7:30 Accord Technologies 50A Angove St North Perth. My mobile is 0407766550. It would be good to if you could let me know if you’re thinking of coming along so I can ensure we have enough space for everyone.

There were 4 of us at our first meeting and some really interesting discussions took place. Given some of the topics that were discussed - ranging from licensing to field trips and so on - and the objectives that the people attending wanted to achieve I believe the group is going to have enough diversity to keep everyone’s interest. The meeting finished about 11 PM (I had 2 kids’ birthday parties to attend to the next morning) but could have quite easily gone on for sometime.

There was discussions on what we wanted which included the group being a voice for the hobby, advancement of herping knowledge by way of assisting (practical/field) research and also husbandry among other topics. For the most part I think we were just happy to get together and talk herps, the formalisation of objectives will come about when we develop a core group. I think the aspect of the meeting that I enjoyed most was the diversity of views which as long as everyone gets an opportunity to express will create an environment open to everyone.

Sorry guys for my lack of details I'm totally under the pump with work. The trip was brilliant, in fact I'm planning to go again in September. The reptiles were pretty amazing too; Centralian Blue-tongues, Thorny Devils (my wife's fallen in love with them), long nosed dragons, ring tailed dragons, western netteds, lots of juvenile western browns, and one of the most amazing yellow faced whip snakes.
