suspected gravid carpet python
« on: October 12, 2014, 03:52:52 PM »
hi everyone. I was looking in bellas enclosure today and noticed that she was laying part inverted. to me this is a sign that she may be gravid. this is unusual because she has had no contact with our male for 2 years now. I have heard that snakes can hold onto the male sperm for a while. is this true? and how long can they hold onto it for? any feedback is appreciated. thanks in advance.

Carpet pythons seen known to retain sperm.
They'll lay inverted now and then regardless. And will ovulate this time of year too.
