Geckos
« on: September 05, 2012, 11:35:20 AM »
Me again :) Anyone got any knob tails or thick tails for sale soon?

I'm willing to pay up to $300 for a pair, less preferably but that's my budget for now :)

Either species is fine, I just really want to get something from Cat3 on my license so by the time I get a place that will allow me to have a snake I can get a BHP or Woma straight away.

Please guys, I know there has to be some out there!

Hi Drake, why bother with boring geckos, for $250 you can get a Stimsons and then will have experience with pythons.  At least you can handle pythons and they won't drop their tail ;-)

Um because I've been banned from having a snake in the house we're living in, the landlord is my partner's boss and is terrified of snakes :( Hence it has to have legs until we can move out but I really just want a BHP or Woma and I'm wasting the next year and a half left on my license by not having anything at all...so gex it is :D
I've found a place to source crickets, as I'm not allowed to breed them cuz they make too much noise according to my partner, otherwise it would be oh so easy to just have a stimmy...which is what I wanted in the first place but I'll have to make do until we can move into our own place

Stims are about as exciting as a pet rock anyway, Nephrurus are more entertaining just a bit more work.

...if any of that would work, I would have done it already...I've had plenty of arguments over the snake thing and I just want to hurry up with getting something on my license until I have somewhere to live with snakes allowed. Aka: my own house.

Knobbies eat mealworms which are easy to breed and don't make noise. Sounds like all your problems could be solved with a new boyfriend with a better boss haha

Yep that would help, unfortunately I like the one I have too much and the second income is nice for keeping a roof over our heads :)
I thought mealies weren't very good as a staple diet?

I think you will find that DEC have a history of not upgrading you to a cat 4 to get a BHP or Woma if you haven't kept snakes on the cat 3 so it would pay to get a stimsons or imbricata even though the geckos  are far more demanding and require a lot more work and commitment as far as husbandry goes. A Woma would be a breeze after them.

You can feed them mealworms and woodies. I know the lady that owns the garden centre sells crickets too but it's an option to breed your own with roaches and mealworms.

Well if that's the case I'm screwed....I'm not allowed to have a snake....at all!!!!
If it was an option I would have upgraded and had my bhp and woma by now....
What's the point of having a cat3 animal be mandatory if it doesn't count if the animal you want on cat4 is something else?? Everywhere else they're all on basic so how bloody hard can it be?!

Might have to call Adrian in the morning to find out if its true...
