Here is mum adder Acanthophis pyrrhus with her new born. This is the only adder we find here in Port Hedland and they are very common. When removed from the wild they are notoriously hard to get to voluntary feed in captivity. In the wild there undoubtedly feed predominately on small skinks, gecko's and frogs. Although we would never seriously believe that she would have any feelings for her young, I like to think she looks kind of pleased with her self.
