Steindachneri Habitat The plate shelled turtle Chelodina steindachneri are commonly found in water holes like this one at Marble Bar. Also found here are the Pilbara Olive python Liasis olivaceus barroni and you occasionally find this python basking in the water. In the vertical rock crevices of the escarpment that you can see in the back ground, lives the Pilbara rock monitor Varanus pilbarensis a shy monitor that can be seen hunting geckos on the rock faces at night time.
